Hailing from the bustling borough of Brooklyn, New York, from a young age, Anita Nixon demonstrated a passion for the arts, honing her skills as a visual arts major at the renowned LaGuardia High School of Arts and Performing Arts.  After being inspired by her participation at Whitney Museum of American Art’s Youth Insights program, a junior docent program for teens, she would pursue her bachelor’s degree in Art History with minors in Sociology/Anthropology and Digital Media. 

After a summer internship at legendary Hip Hop station, HOT 97,  Anita would be hired as the staff writer within the Digital department. She delved into various projects, from interviewing artists, creating feature pages, designing branded campaigns, to managing social media accounts and editing podcasts.

After departing HOT 97,  Anita transitioned to a position at BET Networks, where she shone as a sales designer, collaborating with ad sales and digital teams. She would ultimately transition to her current position as the Digital Art Director,  and is digital design lead for prestigious award shows like the BET Awards. Notably, Anita worked on several award-winning projects, including an animated tribute to rapper, Nipsey Hussle and critically acclaimed Love Letter, featuring Black Thought of The Roots, which received Grammy, Emmy, and Tony nominations this year. 

Recently making Washington, DC  her new home, Anita is relishing the opportunity to explore and contribute to her exciting new surroundings. With a career marked by versatility and creativity, Anita continues to navigate the dynamic landscape of media and entertainment.
